Martin Balaguer, Bryanna Bradley, Margaret Brigid,
Paul DeFilippo, John Dorcic, Julie Fergus, Nicole Savin

Martin Balaguer (he/him) is a bilingual Argentine actor based in Locust Valley, New York. His acting credits include a supporting role in the Emmy nominated web-series “Tough Love”, and leading roles in NYC Theater Fringe Fest 2015 and NY Theater Festival 2022. He’s also a filmmaker and his most recent short film, Adam, has won several awards including the Marc Stein Comedy Award in the 25th Year Long Island Film Expo. More info at martinbalaguer.com

Bryanna Bradley (she/her) is a Long Island born (Manhasset) and NYC bred (Southeast Queens) multidisciplinary performer. Her work lives at the intersection of dance, theater, and performance art. As an actor, her credits include Mother in the musical Passing Strange and activist Paul Robeson in the March 2022 devised production House of American Activities which premiered at Theater for the New City in Manhattan. Bryanna is very grateful to work with Eastline Theatre on this production.

Margaret Brigid (she/her) After a long-ish hiatus, Margaret is pumped to be back on stage. This is Margaret’s first show with EastLine, and she is thrilled to work with such a fabulous cast and crew on such a gorgeous play.

Paul DeFilippo (he/him) previously appeared at BACCA last month in Modern Classics’ production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Gooper). This is his fourth production with EastLine Theatre, where he has acted in: This Play Was Never About Noses (Actor 5), An Oresteia, or What We Have Seen (Orestes), and Romeo & Juliet (Peter). He previously created a full-length film, Policy, for EastLine’s Muse Anthology, which you can view if you click here. If this is your first time experiencing a Sarah Ruhl play and you feel inclined to seek out another, he highly recommends Melancholy Play.

John Dorcic (he/him) would like to thank Danny, the cast, crew, and everyone at BACCA for an incredible experience. It’s rare enough to share a stage with so much exceptional talent, but to share our little spot on the earth with such wonderful people is a truly special place to find oneself. When he’s not being wowwed  by his cast mates in this play, you can find him in the voice over booth, on stage, in Indie films, podcasting or teaching Improv at Take 2 Actors Studio.

Julie Fergus is thrilled to be returning to the stage with EastLine. She was last seen as Clytemnestra in their production of the Oresteia. She has also performed in their Long Island premieres of Indecent and Hand to God and was Lady Macbeth on their Wantagh stage pre-pandemic. She has a degree in theatre from USC and spends much of her time writing, singing and performing on the west coast, as well as playing with her husband and three kids in Los Angeles.

Nicole Savin (she/her) is thrilled to be back onstage in this perfect Sarah Ruhl play. She holds a BA (Hons) from Royal Holloway, University of London in Drama and Theatre Studies. She has been an EastLine contributor since 2016 and favourite EastLine acting credits include Indecent (Chana), The Glass Menagerie (Laura),  Equus (Jill), Barefoot in the Park (Corie), Hay Fever (Sorel), Antigone (Ismene), and An Ideal Husband (Mabel). Nicole is also an Associate Director with By Jove Theatre Company, a London-based company.

“You cannot paint in the dark.” says the painter Leo Irving , yet here I have been, for many years, trying to do just that.

This play has entered my life at a precarious moment: I find myself on the edge of a change, I find myself looking to leave the darkness behind and search for meaning elsewhere. When that change may come, or what it will look like I am unsure, however I am no longer afraid of it and I have Sarah Ruhl’s play to thank for that solace.

Change in people occurs, mistakes happen. Yet I believe what proves our humanity is not that we make mistakes but that we find the ability to allow ourselves to heal from them.

This is a play about people who are desperately looking, in all the wrong places, for a way to heal. This is a play about discovery that aims to nurture you with a soft hand. This is a play that wants you to heal.

So I ask of you, see yourself present here, and surrender yourself to the winds of change. I beseech you, that in a world adrift, you allow yourself to play in the snow.

et tibi mi caro

— Danny Higgins, Director

Big thanks to an ultra-creative mom who handed over the keys to her trusty Singer way back when.

She received her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Drew University. Julianna would like to thank her wonderful husband, William, for supporting her while she takes the car every night for rehearsals.

Danny Higgins (he/they) has been making theatre with EastLine Theatre since 2011 with the vibrator play marking his 37th directing credit with the organization. Selected other credits include The Glass Menagerie, IndecentAmadeusBuried Child, and the original musical Prospero (Live!) for which he also wrote the book. He will be directing EastLine’s upcoming production of Angels in America. He is a NYSCA sponsored artist.

Remi Watts (she/they) is EastLine’s Technical Director, she has worked at places such as BAM Fisher and the Met Opera. She is excited to be working on this production of In the Next Room, or the vibrator play. Remi strives to create new and unique worlds through her use of lights and sound. Some of their favorite credits include Peter and the Starcatcher, Treasure Island, and Indecent.
